Campfire Hobo Stew
This is an easy, economical and healthy recipe. We usually set up the ingredients buffet style and then form an assembly line.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
- ground beef or stew meat cut into small pieces
- vegetables of your choosing - corn, green beans, carrots, onions, bell peppers
- salt and pepper, to taste
Preparation:Tear off a piece of aluminum foil large enough to fold into a pocket to put your ingredients into.
Spray the foil with cooking spray. Add meat first, then vegetables. Top with seasonings and then butter. Close foil on all sides, leaving some room for steam to build. Be sure to mark your packet so it doesn't get mixed up with anyone else's.
Put packet into the coals. Cooking time depends on how hot your fire is. I recommend checking in about 10 minutes.
Chicken Dinner in a bag
You can add any vegetables that your family likes. We've used fresh green beans and mushrooms with great results, but broccoli didn't go over as well.

- chicken breasts, boneless, skinless
- red potatoes
- corn on the cob
- 1 medium onion
- 1 package dry onion soup mix
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 4 tablespoons butter or margarine
- large size Reynolds Hot Bags
Preparation:Dice onion and cut potatoes into bite size pieces. Shuck corn and cut into halves, if desired. Put everything into the Reynolds Hot Bag and fold the opened end twice to seal. Put it on top of the grill or on the tri-pod grill surface about five inches above the fire. Turn the bag carefully after about 15 minutes and cook another 15 minutes on the second side. Open the bag carefully so the steam doesn't burn you! Enjoy your meal and the easy clean up!Servings: 5 - 6
Egg's in an orange
With this simple recipe, you have your serving of eggs and fruit. It gives an orange taste to the egg.
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 12 minutes
- 1 egg
- 1 orange
Preparation:Cut an orange in half. Eat the inside of the orange with a spoon, leaving the peal in two half pieces (bowls). Break an egg in one half of the peal and place other half over top. Cover with aluminum foil and leave it in the fire for about 5 to 10 minutes.
